The AAC is here to help you study! Studying is a process that is often never taught and just assumed. It's important to have a strong process and plan in place to make effective use of study time so you don't just stare at a piece of paper.
Planning your study session:
Mixing up your study methods:
Tackling Tests and Exams:
Effective Study Habits:
Decide what you want to accomplish during each study session and set a SMART goal. Goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Timely.
Establishing a daily study routine creates consistency and you will be more prepared mentally and emotionally. With practice studying will become a regular part of your life and each study session will become more productive.
Finding motivation to study can be very hard. You might lack interest in the subject, have other things that you need to get done or the assignment is hard or overwhelming. However, if you put off studying your study sessions will become less effective and you may not get everything done that you need to accomplish.
Technology can be a major distraction, so when your studying turns on do not disturb. When you get disturbed while studying you lose your train of thought, and your studying will be less effective.
Find an environment where you can be productive and comfortable. Consider noise, lighting, and location when picking your study space.
Study groups enable you to get help from your peers on concepts or problems you are stuck on, complete assignments more quickly, and teach your peers whereby helping you to better understand the concepts and problems yourself. Make sure that your study group is on task, sets goals, and group members come prepared to get the most out of this practice.
Believe that you can be a successful student through hard work and dedication. Your qualities, intelligence, skills, and talent are not fixed traits. You can accomplish your goals if you are willing to put in the effort and time to achieve them.
