Leitner System
What is the Leitner System?
The Leitner System is a method for memorization using flashcards. The goal of using the Leitner System is to determine your level of knowledge of each card and how well you remember it. It is best for regular and consistent studying, not cramming.
Instructions
- Start with one pile of flashcards, called Stack 1. Review these daily.
- Move cards you answer correctly to Stack 2. Review every other day. If you answer a card incorrectly, move it back to Stack 1.
- During your next study session, start with Stack 2. Move all correctly answered cards to Stack 3. Review Stack 3 less often than Stack 1 and 2. Move incorrectly answered cards to the stack before it.
- Keep reviewing these cards until all are in Stack 3.
- For continuous learning, review the flashcards each week.
