Mind Mapping

Mind Mapping is a visualization technique to help you visualize and understand a topic. A mind map starts with a central idea in the center with related topics and ideas branching out from the center. These central ideas can include:

  • A project you are working on
  • An idea/concept from class that you are trying to understand
  • An essay topic

Ideally, a mind map will help you see the bigger picture and how concepts connect.

Instructions

  1. Start with the central idea
    • Write down the main topic or theme you want to explore. This is your starting point.
  2. Add first-level ideas
    • Around the central idea, list a few words or short phrases that relate directly to it. These are your primary branches.
  3. Expand with details
    • For each first-level idea, add more specific information or examples. These become secondary branches.
  4. Continue building connections
    • Add additional layers as needed, breaking down ideas into smaller parts or related concepts.
