• Personal financial planning faculty, students earn honors for research.

Personal financial planning professor lands place on prestigious financial advisors board.

• Two interior design students win the Mid America chapter of International Interior Design Association Student Design Wars.

• Top of her field: Jane Mertz Garcia, professor of communication sciences and disorders, is a new fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Society of Sensory Professionals honors K-State graduate student for research.

• Summer honor: Angela Glean, a senior in kinesiology, serves as 2014 Short-Term Research Education Program to Increase Diversity in Health-Related Research, or STRIDE, undergraduate research fellow with the American Physiological Society.

• Her stock is rising: K-State's Mariah Bausch receives $5,000 Next Gen Scholarship from TD Ameritrade for a bachelor's degree in personal financial planning.

• A K-State sesquicentennial book, "Teatime to Tailgates: 150 Years at the K-State Table," by Jane P. Marshall, is a 2014 Notable Book selection of the State Library of Kansas.

• K-State students from the hospitality and dietetics department win two of the four National Association of College & University Food Services Clark DeHaven Scholarship Trust Scholarships, each worth $5,000.

Virginia Moxley, dean and professor emeritus of the College of Human Ecology, receives the 2014 Distinguished Service Award from the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.

• Best teacher: Jaimee Hartenstein, doctoral student in family studies, is the winner of the 2014 Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools Excellence in Teaching award for the doctoral level.

• Interior Design Educators Council honors interior design faculty members Barbara Anderson and Migette Kaup with merit awards.

• Distance education alliance recognizes Maurice MacDonald, director of the School of Family Studies and Human Services.

Kevin Sauer, hospitality management and dietetics, is elected to the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. It also administers seven nutrition certification programs.

• The K-State chapter of Club Managers Association of America is a winner in the student Idea Fair contest.

Richard Rosenkranz, assistant professor of human nutrition department, is a new fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, an organization dedicated to advancing health through science, education and medicine. Rosenkranz was recognized for distinguished professional achievement in research.

Sara Gasser, a senior in interior design, was one of five finalists in NEXT, a design competition for students throughout the United States and Canada. The competition, sponsored by Steelcase, required students to exhibit a clear understanding of an interconnected workplace, creativity of design and innovation.
