Skill 28-1
Fear of parental anger
Imagine having a job you really love and need. The economy is near collapse and the position pays well. You really like your boss. Then one day you make a mistake.
Your boss storms into your office and is furious with you. He yells at you for a full minute, then storms out.

How do you feel?

Compare this situation with that of a child who is at the receiving end of a parent's anger. They are not all that different in how the situation is perceived.
There are times when our anger is justified and should be revealed to our children. When we do, it is also very important to assure them of our love and continuing commitment.

Children may be immature, but they know that the only thing that stands between them and devastating emptiness is your presence. We have to be careful of terrifying our children with even righteous anger.
