Skill 28
Reassure my children about my strong emotions
Some children are temperamentally "fragile." This makes them especially vulnerable to parental anger. These sensitive children can become overwhelmed with their own emotions in response to the strong emotions of their parents. If they suffer from emotional highjacking, they cannot learn any worthwhile message conveyed through the parent's anger.

This means parents have to be careful to remain in control of their anger and modulate their response to avoid overwhelming their children. This is why lowering the anger action point is so important.

In addition, the nature of the relationship can make children especially afraid when a parent becomes angry.
