Michael Prince to present ‘Designing Inside the Bubble’ for next APDesign Ekdahl Lecture
Michael Prince, founder and president of Beyond Design Inc., will present "Designing Inside the Bubble" as part of the Spring 2022 College of Architecture, Planning & Design's Ekdahl Lecture Series at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, in the Regnier Forum at Regnier Hall on the Manhattan campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Over the past 30-plus years, Prince has been deeply involved in the product development industry. After earning a bachelor's degree in industrial and product design at Syracuse University, he started his career as an industrial designer and gained valuable knowledge through his experiences in all aspects of product development. Before founding Beyond Design in 1994, he worked in product planning for Sony Corporation and in product design at Thomson Consumer Electronics. In addition to Beyond Design, Prince started his first company, Yummy Designs — a firm that enabled him to take his own ideas through production and stay connected to different aspects of the consumer market. To date, his entrepreneurial spirit has led him to one of his self-proclaimed proudest accomplishments, the creation of The Ultimate Hanger and the BuzzBrush, both of which continue to exceed expectations.
In addition to the love of running his own company, he also has a strong desire to teach students about product development. Since the company's inception, Prince has been committed to helping students and has offered internship program opportunities to students from universities around the world, including China, England, France, Italy, Germany, South Korea, Sweden, Turkey and the USA.
