K-State Libraries faculty and staff recognized for excellence

Submitted by Cailin Riley

Veronica Denison, university archivist, received the Brice G. Hobrock Distinguished Faculty Award.

Recently, K-State Libraries honored three employees — Jesica Sellers, Tara Marintzer and Veronica Denison — for outstanding service.

Sellers, maintenance and repair technician I, was chosen as the Support Staff of the Year. The award recognizes a support staff employee's special contributions, dedication to daily tasks and ability to work successfully across the organization.

One nominator said of Sellers, "She has maintained a positive and professional attitude during this difficult time. Her flexibility in changing workspaces and assisting other library staff was inspiring and reflected the values that make Kansas State University a truly special place."

Marintzer, senior graphic designer, received the Lori Goetsch Professional Staff Award. The award recognizes a nontenure track professional's contributions to K-State Libraries in the previous two academic years.

Last fall, Marintzer helped launch a new and improved Libraries' website. With the opening of Hale Library, she also worked hard to create wayfinding, maps, messaging and more related to this massive space. One nominator said of her work, "Tara treats every single project with the utmost importance, making sure that anything that represents the Libraries is top-notch. From signs to handouts to the website, she has the ability to make the Libraries look its absolute best."

Denison, university archivist, received the Brice G. Hobrock Distinguished Faculty Award. Annually, the award recognizes outstanding librarianship and superior accomplishments among the K-State Libraries faculty.

As university archivist, Denison has worked diligently to strengthen relationships across campus, build new partnerships and make students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members comfortable in the reading room. One colleague said of Denison, "She jumps at every opportunity to foster a new relationship — whether it be through giving a presentation, partnering with faculty to teach a class or supporting an oral history project."

Each winner receives a monetary prize and their names are added to award plaques in Hale Library. All awards are funded through the Friends of the K-State Libraries.
