Tips for effective face coverings

Submitted by Division of Communications and Marketing

Kansas State University continues to require face coverings on campuses. Face coverings are required even if you have previously had COVID-19 or if you have had the full vaccination series.

Read the university's face covering policy

While the university does not require the use of medical procedure masks or double masking, individuals are encouraged to use the most effective face covering option to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention offers guidance on ways to maximize fit for cloth and medical procedure masks to improve performance and reduce COVID-19 transmission and exposure.

Cloth masks should be washed daily and whenever they become soiled. A washing machine and dryer are adequate for cleaning. Do not spray your mask with disinfectants or harsh chemicals. Discard the mask if it has become damaged.

Disposable masks should be used once and disposed of in the trash.
