K-State Police Chief Ronnie Grice serves as master of ceremonies for 9/11: A Day of Remembrance

Ronnie Grice, K-State police chief, will serve as master of ceremonies for 9/11: A Day of Remembrance at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Bishop Stadium in CiCo Park. All K-Staters and community members are invited to celebrate America's strength and resilience in the wake of Sept. 11, 2001, and remember those who fell on that tragic day. The event will also consider the needs of those who risk their lives daily in the service of our communities.
The keynote speaker is Chuck Banks, master storyteller and former CIA executive.
Banks will share firsthand experiences from 9/11, the CIA mobilization to Afghanistan, and the patriotism and partnerships between the CIA, the U.S. military, law enforcement and first responders, and why that still matters today. Banks started his military career 40 years ago at Irwin Army Hospital at Fort Riley and enrolled in his first college classes at Kansas State University. After five years in the Army, Banks began a 28-year CIA career, with three tours abroad largely focused on covert action, and was appointed to the senior position of deputy director of logistics at CIA just weeks before 9/11. He retired in 2012 and started high-stakes logistics, consulting on national security initiatives.
