Kansas Board of Regents May meeting agenda items

Submitted by Cindy Bontrager

Dear K-State community,

The Kansas Board of Regents will meet April 15 and 16 at the Curtis State Office Building in Topeka. The board will consider the following agenda items during the meeting.

Kansas State University requests approval to offer a Master of Science in physician assistant studies. Physician assistants are nationally certified and licensed medical professionals who work on health care teams with physicians and other providers. The proposed program would begin in January 2021.

State universities submitted fiscal year 2020 tuition and fee proposals for first reading. Proposals will be made public on the Regents' website. The Regents will take final action on tuition and fees at the June meeting.

The Regents will approve the fiscal year 2020 Johnson Country Education Research Triangle Authority, or JCERTA, budgets. Funds for K-State support research and education programs in animal health and food safety and security at K-State Olathe.

The Regents will act on fiscal year 2021 capital improvements requests and five-year plans.

The Regents will act to adopt the recommended paid parental leave policy. If approved, the policy will be effective for qualifying events occurring after July 1.

The Regents will act on amendments to board policies establishing the board president and chief executive officer's responsibilities and board delegated authority.

On Thursday, the Regents will receive the annual system enrollment report. The full report will be available on the Regents' website.

The Regents will begin discussions on fiscal year 2021 unified state budget requests.

The Regents will elect the fiscal year 2020 board chair and vice chair.
