Wind Ensemble and Band concerts this week feature special guests

Submitted by Blakely Bunning

The K-State Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony will perform Wednesday, Oct. 17, and the Concert Band will perform Thursday, Oct. 18. Both concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. in McCain Auditorium and are free to the public.

Wednesday's Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble concert will include music that will be performed at the Kansas Music Educators Association In-Service Conference in February 2019. K-State was one of three colleges selected to perform at this prestigious state conference.

Also on the program on Wednesday night is music that will performed at the American Bandmasters Association in March 2019. This invitation-only performance is one of the most prestigious venues a collegiate wind band can be invited to perform. Chris Castellanos, horn player with the Boston Brass, will be a guest soloist with the Wind Ensemble. He will perform his arrangement of "La Virgin De La Macarena."

Thursday's Band Concert will feature Allegra Fisher, Jay Koupal and Eddie Shaw as graduate student conductors.

The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance is part of the College of Arts and Sciences. The school annually gives more than $500,000 in undergraduate scholarships and graduate scholarships and assistantships. To learn more about the School of Music Theatre, and Dance at K-State, visit its website.
