Welcome from the Director

Gary Mortenson, DirectorWelcome to the homepage for the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance (MTD) at Kansas State University. These are exciting times for the performing arts at K-State! On June 20, 2012 the Kansas Board of Regents voted to grant "school status" to the disciplines of music, theatre and dance at the university. The school resides in the College of Arts and Sciences under the visionary leadership of Dean Peter Dorhout.

MTD is home to approximately 500 majors/minors, 50 faculty, and 4 administrative support staff. However, more than 4,000 non-majors (representing every department and college at the university) participate in the performing arts at K-State! Hundreds of events are scheduled each year, the vast majority of which are free and open to the public. Please come see the product of our collective efforts presented in McCain Auditorium, Nichols Theatre, All Faiths Chapel, Purple Masque Theatre, and Forum Hall in the K-State Union. We are committed to bringing you the finest quality in the performing arts. From this homepage, I hope you will click on direct links to learn more about the three programs which comprise the school.

Very Truly Yours,
