Make connections for collaboration with delegation from Jilin University

A delegation of administrators and faculty from Jilin University, a top ten comprehensive university in China, will visit Manhattan Sept. 25-27 to attend the First International Symposium on Innovative Teaching and Learning, coordinated by the Teaching and Learning Center at Kansas State University.

The Confucius Institute and K-State Social Club will host a welcome reception for the group from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, at Tallgrass Tap House on the second-floor mezzanine. This event is an opportunity for direct dialog with the members of the delegation in order to make connections for future collaboration. The Jilin representatives will share brief remarks introducing their university and their collaborative programs. Faculty and administrators from K-State interested in international collaboration are welcome to attend. Appetizers will be provided.

The delegation from Jilin University will include:

  • Xianglei Jin, deputy director, Teaching and Learning Center.
  • Rui Wang, deputy director, Department of Undergraduate.
  • Lan Yao, Teaching and Learning Center.
  • Licui Zhu, School of Foreign Language Education.
  • Yang Song, School of Economics.

  • Yuanchao Hu, School of Public Health.
  • Xianwei Zhong, School of Business.

Jilin University is one of K-State's Chinese partners, and the universities jointly established the Confucius Institute at Kansas State University in April 2015. Jilin University was founded in 1946 and is a leading national university under the Chinese Ministry of Education. Today, Jilin University is home to 68,193 full-time students, of which 24,365 are in graduate programs, 42,349 are undergraduates and 2,000 are international students.

Jilin University offers 13 categories of academic disciplines, including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, military science and fine arts. It offers 124 undergraduate programs, 44 Class One doctoral programs, 299 master's programs, 237 doctoral programs and 41 postdoc programs.

The Kansas State University Social Club was founded in 1911 in order to facilitate interdisciplinary social interaction and to create opportunities for new friendships among its members.
