Jodi Kaus to retire May 11

Submitted by Shelley Griffin

The Division of Academic Success and Student Affairs announces the retirement of Jodi Kaus after 15 successful years as the director of Powercat Financial. Kaus's retirement date is May 11.

The campus community is invited to come extend their well wishes during an open house from 3-4 p.m. on April 24 in Room 302 of the K-State Student Union.

During her time as director, Kaus has guided and trained more than 170 peer financial counselors to provide K-State students with free financial education for current situations and future life planning. Kaus' leadership has been essential the last few years with the expansion of the Financial Futures Initiative bringing together multiple areas of campus to focus on improving the financial well-being of students.

Having previously served as a vice president and trust officer, Kaus has been involved in investment and retirement account management, charitable and life insurance trust administration, business development and marketing, estate and conservatorship administration, and financial planning. She has bachelor's degrees in English and philosophy from K-State and a juris doctorate from the University of Kansas.

During her time with Powercat Financial, Kaus received an Outstanding Research to Practice Award at the 2022 Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education Symposium. She was also instrumental in Powercat Financial being named the 2023 Outstanding Financial Counseling and Planning Center by the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education. In addition to Kaus' awarded accomplishments, she has provided Financial Education Program consultations to almost 100 institutions.
