Applications open for College of Business Summer Institute
The College of Business Administration has opened applications for the two 2024 sessions of its high school summer institute taking place in June.
Supported by the Center for Principled Business, the College of Business Summer Institute will host two sessions of 35 rising 10th- through 12th- grade high school students from across the state to experience life as a K-State College of Business Administration student. This year, the institute will be hosted June 2-5 and June 23-26 on the Manhattan campus. Applications are now being accepted on the website to attend either session.
“This Summer Institute will serve as a springboard to give high school students a real college experience that helps foster a sense of independence, self-awareness and confidence as they look to select a university and a major,” said Kevin Gwinner, Edgerley family dean of the College of Business Administration. “This taste of college life introduces them to the advantages of a business degree and inspires them to explore their full potential for success.”
This intensive program encourages students to challenge their creative ideas and leadership skills through learning about the marketing, management, accounting and finance functions within a business entity. Students will also engage in team collaboration, discussions with K-State faculty members and peers, and trips to local businesses. On the last day of the camp, students will apply all of their learning and practice pitching their entrepreneurial ideas as part of an interdisciplinary Business Challenge.
Participants will experience on-campus living and have full access to the dining center throughout their time at Kansas State University. With the help of funding from generous donors, the cost of camp is only $75, with scholarships available to cover the fee. All other educational, food and boarding costs are covered by the donors.
