Kansas Board of Regents February meeting agenda items

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

The Kansas Board of Regents will meet Feb. 14 and 15 at the Curtis State Office Building in Topeka. A livestream will be available for individuals to listen remotely.

The Regents will consider the following agenda items related to Kansas State University.

Consent agenda

K-State requests approval to enter into a real estate lease and interlocal agreement with the city of Manhattan. Currently, the city of Manhattan Fire Department headquarters, fire station and training grounds are located on property owned by K-State. The proposed lease splits the current leased premises into two tracts to accommodate future plans to relocate the training grounds.

K-State requests approval to accept the program statement to construct an equipment storage building at the Hays Agricultural Research Center. The building will replace the previous barn, which was razed following extensive windstorm damage. The estimated project cost is $372,500.

The Regents will appoint Shanna Legleiter, chief human resources officer, to serve as the Retirement Plan Committee's human resources representative.

Discussion agenda

The Regents will consider revisions to the board's course and program approval policies applicable to universities' out-of-service area, face-to-face offerings to align with the amended Johnson County Education Research Triangle Authority Act, or JCERTA. Amendments will only impact courses and programs offered at K-State Olathe.

The Regents will consider K-State's request to offer off-campus face-to-face programs in the Kansas City metropolitan area. K-State requests approval to offer a degree completion program for the Bachelor of Science in aeronautical technology-professional pilot, which is currently offered at K-State Salina, at the New Century Airport in Kansas City.

Blake Flanders, board president and CEO, will provide an update on the board's strategic plan.

The Regents will act on student health insurance benefits and premium rates for plan year 2024-2025. The recommended plan holds premiums flat from the prior plan year and does not change the benefit package or eligibility for any plan options.

On Thursday, Feb. 15, the Regents will enter into executive session to discuss matters related to security measures at K-State.

Agendas and complete meeting minutes are available online.
