Advisor Forum presents February Charlie Award

Submitted by Beth Stuewe

The K-State Advisor Forum announces that Sarah Buchanan, academic advisor for the psychological sciences department, has been selected for the February Charlie Award.

Buchanan was nominated for this award by two of her students for the work she has done that has impacted their K-State experience.

Buchanan's nominator, Kenzie Liby, writes, "Sarah is a very effective communicator and works hard for her students. She made it her personal mission to get to know each one of her students by name, and more personally. She remembered my personal academic goals on our second meeting, and consistently finds something to talk about other than school when you talk to her. Sarah is all around a great person, and an amazing advisor."

Buchanan's second nominator, Micailou Traore adds, "Sarah is always up to date and knowledgeable on university/college policies such as general education requirements, graduation requirements, adding/dropping courses, and if they are a major advisor, major specific policies."

"Sarah has been our rock in psychological sciences as we've faced numerous unexpected challenges while also achieving significant improvements to our program over the last year," said David Schmitt, psychological sciences department head. "She has worked tirelessly to make certain that all of our undergraduate students are welcomed, supported, and rewarded with a personalized experience as psychology majors. We are so lucky to have Sarah leading our advising unit, as she makes our teaching and learning environment better every day."

The Advisor Forum committee thanks Buchanan for the work she has done and congratulates her on this award.
