KAWSE to host EXCITE Shadow Days this fall

Submitted by Stephanie Rose

The K-State Office for the Advancement of Women in Science and Engineering, or KAWSE, will host fall 2023 EXCITE Shadow Days on Sept. 13, Oct. 18, Nov. 2 and Nov. 9.

EXCITE is an outreach program for high school students designed to encourage girls' continued interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, disciplines. All students in grades nine through 12 are welcome to attend.

High school students are invited to experience a day in the life of a K-State student during an EXCITE Shadow Day. They will be paired with a K-State undergraduate in a major of interest. Together, they will attend classes, tour campus, have lunch and discuss what it's like to be a Wildcat. A $10 meal card to the K-State Student Union is provided to both the shadow and the ambassador. Each event is open to the first 10 students who register. All additional registrants will be placed on a waitlist.

Online registration is now open and will close two weeks prior to your selected event date. Signing up early is recommended.

Any questions about the EXCITE Shadow Days may be directed to KAWSE Program Coordinator Stephanie Rose at swacker@k-state.edu

Undergraduate students who are majoring in STEM disciplines are needed to serve as volunteers. View a complete position description and link to apply
