Fall 2020 Virtual EXCITE Shadow Days

High school students are invited to experience a day in the life of a K-State student! Join EXCITE for a week of asynchronous and synchronous learning opportunities designed to help you learn about STEM majors, opportunities available on campus, and life as a Wildcat.   

What is the Goal?

The mission of EXCITE Shadow Days is to increase girls' interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers.

Who Should Attend?

This event is intended for students currently in high school (grades 9-12) with an interest in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) related careers.

What Will a Virtual Event Look Like?

Our virtual EXCITE Shadow Days will combine pre-recorded sessions with live sessions. They will feature conversations and informational videos hosted by K-State faculty, staff and students. All pre-recorded sessions will be available to access for a full week (Monday-Friday) so that you can work around your school schedule. Live sessions will occur on a weekday evening, and will feature Q&A time with current K-State students major in STEM majors of shared interest with high school participants.  

When are they?

We are offering two virtual events. The first will occur during the week of October 19-23 (registration closes September 28). The second event occurs during the week of November 9-13 (registration closes October 19). Join our mailing list to be the first to know when registration opens. 

What Colleges are Being Featured, and When?

The STEM colleges are: Agriculture; Architecture, Planning and Design; Arts and Sciences; Engineering; Health and Human Sciences; and Veterinary Medicine.

This semester, we are highlighting the following STEM colleges: 

  • October 19-23 - Colleges of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine
  • November 9-13 - Colleges of Engineering and Arts & Sciences
What if I'm Not Available on the Day that my College of Interest in Featured? Can I Still Sign Up for Another Event?

YES! Students are welcome to participate in any week that works for them. We will still feature with a K-State student majoring in a field of your interest. And, you'll still learn about resources and opportunities available at K-State no matter which day you choose to select. 

How Do I Sign Up and What's Included in Registration?

Online registration is available NOW! After completing the online registration form, you will receive an email from K-State KAWSE (kawse@k-state.edu). This email will include information on how to submit payment, as well as a consent form and waiver that must be returned to KAWSE. All steps in the process must be completed before your registration is considered complete!

Your $10 registration fee includes access to all EXCITE Shadow Day materials, a pencil, a drawstring backpack, and informational materials. Please be aware that we are unable to offer refunds for these events. 

Each Shadow Day is limited to 25 participants, with slots available on a first come, first serve basis. 

What if I have to cancel?

Should you need to cancel, please do so as soon as possible. This will allow those on the waitlist to participate. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for these events.
