***To mitigate the spread of COVID-19, K-State announced today that classes will be suspended March 16-20, and will be held online beginning March 23 until further notice. Furthermore, the safety of your child is our top priority. As such, we have decided to cancel the March 25 and April 1 EXCITE Shadow Day. We are sorry that your student will be unable to attend these EXCITE! Shadow Days. New in 2020! New Majors, New Format, Same Great Experience!
February 12, February 26, March 25 (canceled) and April 1 (canceled), 2020.
High school students are invited to come experience a day in the life of a K-State student! Each participant will be paired with a current K-State student who shares similar interests in science, technology, engineering, or math. Together they will attend class, tour campus, share lunch, and discuss what it's like to be in a STEM major at K-State.
What is the Goal?
The mission of EXCITE Shadow Days is to increase girls' interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers.
Who Should Attend?
This event is intended for students currently in high school (grades 9-12) with an interest in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) related careers.
What Will We Do?
You will join a current college student majoring in a field you are interested in as she goes about her normal day at K-State and experience “a day in the life” firsthand. Lunch, a drawstring bag, and pencil are included in your registration fee.
What's New this Year?
New Majors: The College of Architecture, Planning and Design is now considered STEM! That means high school students interested in design and planning professions can now spend the day with a K-State undergraduate majoring in architecture, interior architecture and product design, landscape architecture or regional and community planning!
New Format: You asked, and we listened! Students will now receive a little bit more information on applying to K-State, as well as the many opportunities offered through STEM colleges. Don't worry - the majority of the day will still be spent one-on-one with a K-State undergraduate. In this new format, the first 30 minutes of the day will be spent with New Student Services and one of six STEM colleges on campus. *Note: Check in will now start at 8:30!*
