Advisor Forum presents June Charlie Award

Submitted by Kathy Huser

The K-State Advisor Forum announces that Mitzi Farmer, academic advisor and director of academic services in the College of Architecture, Planning & Design, has been selected for the June Charlie Award.

Farmer was nominated for this award by Katie Kingery-Page, associate dean of the college, for her care and attention to the students.

Kingery-Page wrote, "Mitzi leads our advising team for the college — four advisors, including Mitzi — and has done so through a time of unprecedented growth, leading to our largest population of students ever! We have just this year launched a new bachelor's degree, which takes students on a path quite different from most of their peers in our college. Mitzi's level of intention in considering these new student needs is truly remarkable. In her role as our director of academic services, Mitzi not only leads our advising team, but she also personally advises most of our first-year students. Her care and attention to the needs of these students, from coaching peer mentors to preparing RLAs who work with our CAT community, is exemplary. Mitzi understands that both the business processes of the university and the needs of students are dynamic. She embraces change and always seeks to improve processes. Above all, Mitzi brings a good energy and enthusiasm to all she does, which is contagious! She is an amazing part of our team. Our students benefit from her caring, her expertise in conflict resolution, and her clear-eyed wisdom as they pursue their goals."

The Advisor Forum Committee thanks Farmer for the work she has done and congratulates her on this award.
