Happy fall and Hispanic Heritage Month!

This week, Sept. 19-23, is K-State MANRRS Week and Voter Registration Awareness Week, so please join us in celebrating. View the MANRRS Week flyer. 

On Sept. 19, we hosted a Membership and Voter Registration Drive in partnership with K-State Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences, or MANRRS, K-State Library Ambassadors and the Kappa Pi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.

Today, Sept. 20, K-State MANRRS will partner with K-State International Student and Scholar Services and the National Postdoctoral Association to host the Postdoctoral International Student Panel from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the International Student Center. 

On Wednesday, Sept. 21, the College of Agriculture and Diversity Programs Office will host Cargill for a coffee hour from 8-10 a.m. in the Waters Hall lobby. A voter registration drive will follow from 10-11:30 a.m. in the Waters Hall lobby. Additionally, the K-State MANRRS Corporate Showcase will be at 6 p.m. in 328 Waters Hall. The showcase will feature the Peace Corps, Ardent Mills, Merck Animal Health, Purina, Cargill and Smithfield Foods.

On Thursday, Sept. 22, K-State MANRRS will host a voter registration drive from 10-11:30 a.m. in the K-State Student Union and a fundraiser from 4-10 p.m. at IHOP. 

On Friday, Sept. 23, K-State MANRRS and K-State First Book will host a book panel on "The Unthinkable" from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Register online.

Also this month, the Diversity Programs Office supported National Suicide Awareness Month, National Suicide Prevention Week Sept. 4-10 and the positive mental health initiatives. Along with the other monthly observances. On Sept. 7,  the Diversity Programs Office and the K-State MANRRS Chapter partnered with Project IMPACT, the K-State Career Center and Frontier Farm Credit to host the first K-State MANRRS Career Readiness Workshop. Thanks to all for making this event a success.

Other notable upcoming events include the  HALO Encuentro on Oct. 4, through Diversity and Multicultural Student Affairs, where K-State MANRRS will table. Also on Oct. 4, John Deere Co. will facilitate a Student Leader Diversity Training at 5:30 p.m. via Zoom. On Oct. 7, the Diversity Programs Office will present at the Michael Tilford Conference at Washburn University. On Oct. 11 at 4:30 p.m., the "Growing Our Mindset" Diversity forum will be in the Wildcat Chamber at the K-State Student Union. The speaker is Ryan Locke, industry relations manager for FMC Corporation. He will discuss the importance of including retention and development in your DEI strategy. The Gardiner Lecture will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 11 in McCain Auditorium. The K-State MANRRS chapter will take a student delegation to the MANRRS Regional Cluster, Oct. 14-15, in Dallas.
