President announces two additional searches for vacant cabinet-level positions

Submitted by Office of the President

In addition to the national search announced yesterday for the vice president for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, President Richard Linton has appointed search committees to lead the national searches for two additional vacant cabinet-level positions:

  • Chief financial officer and vice president for university operations/chief operations officer
  • Vice president for communications and marketing

The search for the university’s next chief financial officer and vice president for university operations/chief operations officer formally merges the university’s chief financial officer, or CFO, role with the chief operations officer, or COO, role. This position is charged to lead and oversee university strategic budget planning and management; financial services; administrative support services; facilities planning and maintenance; risk and compliance; internal audit; environmental health and safety; parking services and campus public safety.

The national search will be co-chaired by David Rosowsky, vice president for research, and Kevin Gwinner, dean of the College of Business Administration. You may view the full list of CFO/COO search committee members on the president’s website.

The search for the university’s next vice president for communications and marketing follows the retirement of Jeff Morris in March 2022. The position, which serves as the senior communications and marketing advisor to university leadership, is charged with providing leadership on university reputation management, crisis communications and proactive public relations efforts, as well as managing the university’s creative brand strategy. The position also fosters strategic relationships with external communications partners, including K-State Athletics, K-State Alumni Association, KSU Foundation, Kansas Board of Regents and other key constituents.

The national search will be co-chaired by Amy Button Renz, president and CEO of the K-State Alumni Association, and Jay Stephens, vice president for human capital services. You may view the full list of vice president for communications and marketing search committee members on the president’s website.

All three cabinet-level searches will be supported by an external search firm. The searches are expected to launch this spring with completion by the end of the fall 2022 semester.
