Military affairs executive director participating in roundtable with Senate Veterans Affairs Committee leaders
Art DeGroat, a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel and K-State executive director of Military and Veterans Affairs was invited as one of four national experts on veterans transition and reintegration to a special roundtable discussion with Sen. Jon Tester, chairman of the U.S. Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, and Sen. Jerry Moran, ranking committee member on Jan. 12.
This is a follow-up action based upon a formal hearing where DeGroat testified to this committee and offered new insights not previously discussed and deemed valuable by the committee for developing policy to improve veterans transition assistance and prevention of veteran suicide. DeGroat completed an eight-year doctoral program at K-State focusing his research on the impact of military service to the life course of post 9-11 era veterans.
