Thursday Teaching Tip: Evaluating educational technology
The K-State Global Campus instructional designer brings you Thursday Teaching Tips through K-State Today. These tips will cover Canvas, best practices in teaching online or new topics as the community begins to discuss them.
Today's Thursday Teaching Tip covers criteria to look at when evaluating educational technology for use in your class.
- A Rubric for Evaluating E-Learning Tools in Higher Education.
- Rubric for eLearning Tool Evaluation — PDF: This rubric has been designed for instructors and staff as a formative tool to evaluate e-learning tools in higher education. E-learning tools are defined as any digital technology, mediated through the use of a computing device, deliberately selected to support student learning. The rubric supports a multidimensional evaluation of functional, technical and pedagogical aspects of e-learning tools.
The article and rubric were written and developed in 2018 by Lauren Anstey and Gavan Watson of Western University's Centre for Teaching and Learning.
