Teaching and Learning Center supports mindful returns to campus

Welcome back, K-Staters! We hope you have been able to recharge over the last couple of months after a very challenging academic year. As we head into the 2021-2022 academic year at K-State, the Teaching and Learning Center offers some guidance on how we, as faculty and staff, can promote a mindful return to campus this fall.

  1. Clear communication is the key to any relationship.
  2. We should support diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging by respecting all K-Staters.
  3. We should actively practice empathy by taking on the perspectives of others and anticipating their needs.
  4. We should practice habits that promote good mental health, such as meditation, journaling, or spending time outside.
  5. Physical health is crucial for overall well-being and involves diet, exercise and disease prevention.
  6. Finally, last but not least, student success is the goal of all higher education efforts.

For each pillar of Mindful Returns, we have compiled resources from K-State offices and others to facilitate support for you and your students as we return to campus. As such, we have labeled this compilation the Mindful Returns Toolkit, which will be available for you to reference throughout the year.

If you see our Mindful Returns graphic circulating on electronic signs in buildings around campus, scan the QR code for easy access to these resources. Also, our Mindful Returns stickers are available by stopping by the Teaching and Learning Center in 206 Anderson Hall or you can request some for your whole team by emailing the center. Show your commitment to teaching, learning and well-being at K-State.

We hope you take advantage of the resources provided in the Mindful Returns Toolkit. Please email us at the center if you have any questions or additional resources we should include. We hope this note finds you happy and healthy, and we wish you all the best as you enter the fall semester!

Sincerely,
The Teaching and Learning Center team
