Environmental history professor invited to address the 23rd annual Southern Plains Conference

Submitted by Bonnie Lynn-Sherow

Bonnie Lynn-Sherow, associate professor of history, has been invited to give two keynote addresses at the 23rd annual Southern Plains Conference in Muleshoe Texas, Feb. 8 and 9, 2012. The theme of the conference is "Beyond the Windshield: Dwelling in the Natural World."

The Southern Plains Conference is an annual gathering of academic and non-academic scientists, ecologists and social scientists that study the intersection of human beings and the natural world. Held each year in a different location to highlight the different ecologies of the Southern Plains, Muleshoe is situated where the heavy soils of central Texas meet the sand hills west of Portales. Lynn-Sherow's talk, "An Agricultural Revolution: Causes, Effects and Aftermaths" is the featured keynote presentation. The Southern Plains Conference is sponsored by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Grasslands Charitable Foundation, the Texas Farmers Union and the Ogallala Commons.
