K-State Police Department joins countywide radio system

Submitted by Kanas State University Police Department

The Kansas State University Police Department is now part of the Riley County emergency radio system. This countywide radio system allows first responders to communicate with each other during emergencies. Before the new radio system launch in September 2020, this interjurisdictional communication was not possible.

Agencies using the radio system include Riley County Police Department, Manhattan Fire Department, Riley County Emergency Medical Services and Riley County Fire. K-State's Network and Telecommunications Services, Ka-Comm and Pat Collins, former Riley County emergency manager, assisted with the transition.
