Counseling Services personnel update

Submitted by Shawn Funk

Jim Parker has accepted the position of director for Counseling Services. He has served as the interim director for Counseling Services since fall 2019.

Parker has been the director at Lafene Health Center since 2013 and will continue to serve in that capacity. Under Parker's direction, Lafene has made many process improvements, added a robust sports medicine department, psychiatric nurse practitioners, massage therapy and dermatology, and implemented new medical software to allow for web-booked appointments, self-check-in kiosks, and better communication between patients and their providers. Parker has directed many physical improvements including relocating our pharmacy to include space for a drive-thru.

Kodee Walls has been selected to serve as the interim lead clinician for Counseling Services. Walls received her doctorate in counseling psychology from Ball State University. She has been working at Counseling Services since August 2016. Walls helped rebuild the stress management and biofeedback program as a major part of her clinical services role at K-State Counseling Services. Before this new leadership role, Walls served as the assistant director, training director for Counseling Services' APA-accredited internship program.

Parker and Walls began serving in these roles earlier in the summer.
