Personal financial planning to become a department

Submitted by College of Health and Human Sciences

Personal financial planning wordmark

The personal financial planning program in the College of Health and Human Sciences received approval from the Kansas Board of Regents to become its own department. The program is currently housed in the School of Family Studies and Human Services.

With the restructure, the new department is currently searching for a department head. Applications for this position are currently open with the initial review of candidates beginning March 23. The department head listing can be found on the Human Capital Services website.

The shift from the School of Family Studies and Human Services will not affect any students who are working to obtain a degree through the program.

The personal financial planning program is a well-established program preparing professionals to transform lives through financial planning. It offers an undergraduate degree and numerous minors, a master's degree and multiple graduate certificates, and a doctoral degree. The undergraduate and master's programs are offered on campus, and online through K-State Global Campus. The doctoral program is a hybrid program, with students taking courses online during the fall and spring semesters and participating in a 10-day on-campus session in August. All three degree programs are registered with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. and are recognized as among the best programs in the nation.
