Oh, the places they'll go: Scholarships help Wildcats study around the world

Kansas State University's office of international programs has selected students to receive scholarships for international study. The awards include the office's Global Education Initiative scholarships to 25 students, of which 10 received the Faculty-Led Scholarship, made possible by the Kansas State University Student Governing Association; four students earned the Presidential Scholarship for Australia, made possible by university President Kirk Schulz; while others earned scholarships sponsored by private donors through the Kansas State University Foundation.

In addition, several other students earned scholarships from study abroad program providers Academic Programs International and Universities Study Abroad Consortium.

The study abroad experiences vary in length, from short-term faculty-led trips to programs lasting up to a year.

Recipients of a study abroad scholarship include:

Alex Maxwell, junior in food science and industry, Atchison, $2,000 Faculty-Led Scholarship for Spain; Karman Selby, senior in anthropology, Brewster, $750 Elfrieda Nafziger Memorial Scholarship for Russia; Jesse Muller, senior in agricultural economics, Coffeyville, $1,000 Global Education Initiative Scholarship for South Africa; Amelia Govert, sophomore in food science and industry, $2,000 Faculty-Led Scholarship for South Africa, and Anna Govert, senior in agricultural economics, $1,000 Global Education Initiative Scholarship for South Africa, both from Cunningham; Hannah McCabe, senior in animal sciences and industry, $2,000 Faculty-Led Scholarship for Spain, and Andrew Strasburg, senior in agribusiness, $5,000 Mike and Becky Goss International Programs/Study Abroad Scholarship and $150 Vernon Larson Scholarship for The Netherlands, both from Elk City; Cecelia Lehman, sophomore in business administration, Eudora, $500 Academic Programs International Scholarship for Spain.
