Science on Tap event tonight

Submitted by Kelsey Panfil

This month's Science on Tap features Kelsey Panfil, a doctoral student in psychological sciences at K-State.

The event is free and begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Tallgrass Tap House, 320 Poyntz Ave. Be sure to let the Tap House staff know you are there for Science on Tap.

Panfil will talk about some of the research she does involving decision-making. While individual choices may seem small and inconsequential, research shows that poor decision-making can accumulate to produce big problems like substance abuse, gambling and obesity. Working with rats, Panfil's research focuses on everyday choices. More specifically, she is interested in studying impulsivity related to ADHD and ADHD medication, as well as how hormones can affect our choices. The event will include short activities and discussion about what might lead us to make bad choices and how we can improve our decision-making skills.

Science on Tap is organized through a partnership with the Graduate School, the Center for Engagement and Community Development, Sunset Zoo and Tallgrass Tap House.
