Kansas Board of Regents November meeting agenda items

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

The Kansas Board of Regents will meet Nov. 20 at Pittsburg State University. The board will consider the following agenda items related to Kansas State University during the meeting.

Consent agenda

The Regents will appoint Jay Stephens, vice president for Human Capital Services at Kansas State University, to the Retirement Plan Committee. Stephens will replace Gary Leitnaker, director of labor relations and special projects at Kansas State University, who will retire on Dec. 31. Stephens will complete Leitnaker's term that ends on June 30, 2022.

Discussion agenda

All state universities submitted fiscal year 2021 housing and food service rates for first reading. The board will take final action in December and approved rates will go into effect on July 1, 2020. As auxiliary enterprises, housing and food service operations must cover the total cost of operations with user fees. Housing and Dining Services staff determine proposed rates with input from the student leaders of the Association of Residence Halls. Proposed rate increases for fiscal year 2021 are recommended to cover increased operational costs for expenditures for salaries and benefits, facility maintenance, as well as for planned housing and dining building renovations and repairs.
