Explore and indulge in different cultures, languages from native speakers

Submitted by Stacey Bailey

Every spring and fall semester, International Student and Scholar Services sponsors several eight weekslong, noncredit classes known as the Basic Language Training program. Classes begin Sept. 16 and end Nov. 8.

Nine languages are scheduled to be offered this fall: Arabic, Cantonese, Czech, Hindi, Portuguese, Spanish, Advanced Spanish, Serbian and Turkish. The classes will meet for an hour twice a week for eight weeks and will be taught by international students who can provide insight on the culture and history of their home countries.

See a schedule of classes and register online.

Registration must be completed with a payment of $35 before 5 p.m. Sept. 9. Only cash or check — made payable to International Student and Scholar Services — are accepted.

Contact the International Student and Scholar Services office at 785-532-6448 with any questions or for more information.
