Why become a BLT Instructor with ISSS?

In the words of current & previous BLT Instructors:

    • great opportunity to share my native language and culture
    • improved my teaching skills
    • enhanced my portfolio
    • building friendships/relationships while improving myself
    • enjoyed teaching and learning from my students
    • positive interaction with those who want to learn
    • love teaching small classes while having fun

“Basic Language Training Program was a win-win experience for me.  It Offered me the opportunity to meet with superb people across the USA and it helped me strengthen my connection to my own culture.  It has also helped me with my teaching skills on how to share my language and culture with others in a fun and valuable way.”

The BLT Program is a series of non-credit language courses that are offered during both the fall and spring semesters. Classes are taught by K-State students who are native speakers. The student instructors teach the basics of their language while exploring the culture and history of their home country. The classes take place over the course of eight weeks and meet two times a week. Each session is an hour long and there are a total of 16 classes. Class registration is open to all who wish to learn a new language: KSU students, staff, faculty, or community members - no K-State affiliation required for enrollment.  All language levels are welcome!

The languages offered each semester vary and there is an enrollment fee of $35 per person for each eight-week course. Feel free to register for more than one course! At least six students must register for the class. If there are less than six students registered, the class may be canceled. Those who register for a class that must be canceled due to low participation will receive a refund.
