National search for dean of College of Agriculture and director of K-State Research and Extension

Submitted by Office of the Provost

The Office of the Provost announces a national search for the next dean of the College of Agriculture and director of K-State Research and Extension at Kansas State University. The university has engaged the services of Harris Search Associates, an executive search firm, to support the search process.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual with a record of leadership who can advance the missions of the college and KSRE through creation of a bold, shared vision of education, research, teaching and service. Reporting to the provost and executive vice president, the dean/director serves on the Council of Academic Deans.

The dean/director serves as the chief administrative officer of the college and provides leadership, strategic vision, direction and support for all academic programs and curricular issues in the college. The KSRE director role is responsible for the coordination of programming and activities for the Kansas Cooperative Extension System and the Agricultural Experiment Station including all state and federal oversight and includes the overarching vision and strategic direction for the integration of research, extension and the teaching functions of the land-grant system. The dean/director ensures continued excellence in education, extension outreach, research, public engagement, faculty and staff development, oversight, high-quality learning experiences, and effective fiscal stewardship and fundraising efforts on behalf of the college in alignment with the K-State 2025 Visionary Plan. Other responsibilities include overseeing international programs and institutes and interaction with county and district extension councils, industry stakeholders and the state and federal legislature.

The full position description, including required qualifications, may be found on the provost's website.

The search committee invites letters of nomination, applications (letter of interest and a vita), or expressions of interest to be submitted to Jeffrey Harris, managing partner at Harris Search Associates, at jeff@harrisandassociates.com. The search committee's review of materials will begin immediately and continue until the appointment is made. It is preferred, however, that all nominations and applications be submitted prior to March 25. We anticipate campus interviews taking place in early May with the appointment beginning July 1.
