David Norman named distinguished fellow of African Association of Agricultural Economists

Submitted by David Lambert

David Norman, professor emeritus of agricultural economics, has been inducted as a distinguished fellow of the African Association of Agricultural Economists.

The association recognizes recipients with this distinction for their scholarly contribution and leadership in the field of agricultural economics, as well as their contributions to agriculture in Africa. Distinguished fellows often are speakers in the association's Distinguished Agricultural Economist Lecture Series.

Norman served as an active faculty member in the agricultural economics department for nearly 40 years, retiring in 2007.

The department of agricultural economics contributes to the university's land-grant mission by serving agriculture and related fields through teaching, research and extension outreach. Celebrating 100 years of service in 2012, the department has a long-standing tradition of excellence among its students, graduates, faculty, staff, extension personnel and the agricultural community at large.
