National Postdoctoral Appreciation Week events

Submitted by K-State Postdoctoral Association

Join the K-State Postdoctoral Association to celebrate K-State postdocs, to learn new skills, and to find community during National Postdoc Appreciation Week Sept. 17-21.

Three main events will take for place K-State postdocs, their mentors, and families:

  • Monday, Sept. 17, noon to 1 p.m., International Student Center: Postdoc Appreciation Week Kickoff and Networking Lunch. Let's kick off National Postdoc Appreciation week with a luncheon celebrating K-State postdocs and K-State postdoc mentors! Beth Montelone, senior associate vice president for research, will attend and provide brief remarks about K-State postdocs. A free taco bar lunch — vegetarian friendly — drinks and dessert will be included. Please feel free to bring your mentor so we can celebrate them too.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 19, 3-5 p.m., Wildcat Chamber at the K-State Student Union: Professional Development — Job talks and research statements. The K-State Postdoctoral Association and Graduate Student Council will co-host the next professional development event focused on "Getting a job in Academia." During this event, you will hear expert advice on how to successfully prepare and compete in the job market. We will have numerous experts who will teach you about crafting strong diversity, research and teaching statements, along with a panel of experts who are here to answer your job market questions.
  • Friday, Sept. 21, 3-5 p.m., JP's Sports Grill at Jardine Apartments: Ice Cream Social. The K-State Postdoctoral Association wants to celebrate you and the end of the week by throwing K-State postdocs a delicious ice cream social. Call Hall will provide ice cream with a variety of toppings. This event is open to postdocs and their families, so bring the kiddos.

Registration is required for all events. Please register by Wednesday, Sept. 12.
