Augustine-Shaw selected for International Mentoring Association board

Donna Augustine-Shaw

Donna Augustine-Shaw, College of Education assistant professor of educational leadership, was recently notified that she was unanimously approved to serve on the International Mentoring Association, or IMA, board of directors.

Augustine-Shaw will serve as an associate board member for two years before stepping into a full board position in 2020. The association is a nonprofit, diverse and global organization of mentoring professionals in the education, business and government sectors. It seeks to advance best practices and unite professionals who share an interest in both the theory and practice of effective mentoring.

David Thompson, professor and chair of the department of educational leadership, said Augustine-Shaw’s vision and tenacity were key to a K-State-hosted leadership organization attaining the highest level — gold accreditation — by the International Mentoring Association.

"Dr. Augustine-Shaw was the driving force behind the Kansas Educational Leadership Institute’s gold accreditation that was earned for the first time this past year," Thompson said. "She has contributed greatly to KELI’s overall success, and it was highly predictable that she successfully envisioned and directed our accreditation by the International Mentoring Association. KELI is nearly unique to higher education for its programs and for its formal partnership with five Kansas school leadership organizations including the Kansas State Department of Education, and IMA accreditation confirms the quality of our service to the profession and Kansas schoolchildren."
