Tennis for fun and fitness, children and parents needed for study
The Health and Behavioral Nutrition Lab is seeking volunteers for a tennis-based health promotion program for children ages 5-10 years old.
Six weeks of tennis instruction will be offered April-May 2018. Parental participation in the physical activity is not mandatory, but it is encouraged. Monetary compensation will not be provided; however, the tennis lessons and all equipment — e.g., tennis rackets — will be provided free of charge. The sessions will be offered at the City Park tennis courts in Manhattan on Thursday evenings, and the Fifth Street tennis courts in Junction City on Saturdays mornings.
Participants will be asked to complete a survey related to their health habits and allow researchers to measure their height and weight.
