Reminder: 2018 Eisenhower Lecture today

The history department will host the 2018 Eisenhower Lecture series at 7 p.m. March 26 in the K-State Alumni Center banquet room. A reception will start at 6 p.m. Bockers II Catering will provide heavy hors d'oeuvres and drinks at the reception and again after the lecture.

The Eisenhower Lecture, which focuses on a military history topic, is titled "The Language of the Sea: The Artistic Representation of Early Modern Naval Battles."

The guest lecturer, David L.M. Onnekink, is assistant professor in early modern international relations at the department of history of the Universiteit Utrecht. He attended the Universiteit Utrecht and the University of York and conducted doctoral research at University College London and the Universiteit Utrecht, where he gained his degree in 2004. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Advanced Studies in Humanities in Edinburgh and a fellow at the Huntington Library in San Marino, California. He has taught extensively at the Universities of Utrecht and Leiden and at the College of William and Mary.

Currently, he is working on "The Dutch in the early modern World: The Rise and Fall of a Global Power," Cambridge University Press, 2018.

Onnekink also will be the guest lecturer at the Parrish Colloquium at 7 p.m. March 27 in the K-State Alumni Center's Tadtman Boardroom.
