Mary Carr

Mary Carr, sophomore in business administration, Hampshire, Illinois, is a 2017 recipient of the Richard Foster Award from Lawn & Landscape and its parent company, GIE Media.

The award recognizes outstanding students planning careers in the landscape, lawn care or horticulture business.

"I want to use the skills I develop as a marketing student to promote the field of horticulture and the tremendous benefits of gardening to every man, woman and child in the United States," said Carr, who recently completed an internship in the sales department for BrightView in Houston.

To be eligible for the $2,500 scholarship, students must be enrolled at a recognized two- or four-year college or university working toward a degree in horticulture, environmental science or other field related to a segment of the green industry.
