Watkins wins School Nutrition Association research award

Tracee Watkins, doctoral candidate in hospitality management and graduate research assistant advised by Kevin Roberts in the Center of Excellence for Food Safety Research in Child Nutrition Programs, was recognized as the 2017 School Nutrition Showcase Award Winner for Research at the School Nutrition Association's annual national conference July 9-12 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The research poster, "Are Meals Served During School Field Trips Safe from Listeria and Salmonella? A Simulation Study to Evaluate the Safety of Lunches Stored in Coolers in Extreme School Bus Temperatures," was the product of collaborative research conducted by the Center of Excellence for Food Safety Research in Child Nutrition Programs, Food Science Institute and Biosecurity Research Institute with funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Co-authors of the research poster include Nicholas Sevart, Amanda Wilder, Paola Paez, Sara Gragg and Randall Phebus.
