Submitted by Sarah Hancock

Tom Hallaq, assistant professor in the A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications, has been named a gold winner by the 2016 MarCom Awards for a video he produced for K-State's Office of Corporate Engagement.

The video highlights the longtime partnership between K-State and agricultural biotechnology corporation Monsanto and benefits of university-corporate partnerships. The video features graduate students, faculty and extension agents from K-State agriculture programs as well as officials from Monsanto and the University Industry Demonstration Partnership, an association of research universities and corporations working to maximize the potential of research collaborations and partnerships.

MarCom Awards are a creative competition for individuals and companies involved in the concept, writing and design of print, visual, audio, web materials and programs. The competition is sponsored by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. Entries come from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers.

Hallaq joined the School of Journalism and Mass Communications in 2013. He teaches digital media and broadcast journalism. He is an award-winning video producer and former broadcast newscast director. Hallaq's previous awards include two bronze Telly Awards, a gold EMPix Award, a DV Award and an Aegis Award, each for videos produced for various clients.
