Invitations to SPOTLIGHT K-State are in your mailboxes

Submitted by Jana R. Fallin

Invitations for SPOTLIGHT K-State at 7 p.m. March 24, in the K-State Student Union in Forum Hall should be in all faculty mailboxes. Register today. Everyone who attends will get their choice of a free book, "What the best college teacher do," or "What the best college students do," both by Ken Bain.

The event is a celebration of teaching and learning on our campus, and part of the celebration includes an amazing menu for the evening. The area outside Forum Hall will be filled with a delicious array of hors d'oeuvres and desserts beautifully displayed by Chef Pedro Lozada and his staff at the K-State Student Union food service.

Be sure to sample the curried chicken salad in pastry cups, the stuffed dates wrapped in bacon, the cheese and fruit bar and of course, the amazing desserts. You will find mini-parfaits, small cream-puffs filled with custards, assorted dessert bars and a coffee station with syrups and flavorings to meet anyone's taste desires. Attendees also can enjoy a variety of wines and beers as well as soft drinks.

SPOTLIGHT K-State is sponsored by President Schulz and organized by the Teaching and Learning Center at K-State along with Mike Wesch, associate professor of sociology, anthropology and social work, and Chad Jackson, director of the Center for the Advancement of Entrepreneurship in the management department. Speakers from all over campus will share their stories about teaching and learning in a fast-paced, interesting format.

If you come, I guarantee you will learn and be entertained all at the same time!
