Adverse childhood experiences presentation Oct. 23
As part of their annual conference this week, family and child development Extension professionals invite faculty and students to attend a presentation on the impact of adverse childhood experiences in Kansas and the nation from 10-11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, in the Flint Hills Room at the K-State Student Union.
Vicky Roper, from the Kansas Children's Service League, will present the impact of adverse childhood experiences on the development and long-term health of children, youth and families. Roper presented with Rob Anda, principal co-investigator of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's study of adverse childhood experiences, at the recent Kansas Child Abuse Conference. She will focus the Oct. 23 discussion on the latest adverse childhood experiences research findings, including information about historical trauma and inter-generational transmission.
