Kansas Forest Service hosts national meeting

Submitted by Elaine Edwards

More than 200 people from 17 states and Canada made the trek to Manhattan for the 2014 National Meeting of the Walnut Council this week.

Following a preconference tour of the Konza Prairie on June 8, the meeting registrants were treated to a welcome reception at the Flint Hills Discovery Center.

The remainder of the week will feature scientific updates on black walnut planting, management and harvesting. Field tours are scheduled for Dickinson and Geary counties and K-State's Tuttle Creek Forestry Research Center. An indoor presentation and a banquet will occur Tuesday afternoon and evening. The meeting closes with a business meeting on Wednesday morning.

A special thanks is extended to 27 sponsors and contributors.
