Provost's office accepting nominations for University Award for Undergraduate Student in Research

The provost’s office is accepting nominations for the University Award for Undergraduate Student in Research. The annual award is given to a student for distinguished undergraduate research.

The award honors outstanding individual contributions in research for the purpose of the discovery and creation of new knowledge at K-State and is open to any field of study. The recipient will receive $1,000.  Eligible students may be nominated by K-State faculty, students, staff or administrators.

The nominations deadline is Feb. 22. Finalists will be invited for an interview. Applications should be submitted electronically in PDF format to Gail Zeak at gaill@k-state.edu

Nominees must:  

  1. Be a full-time undergraduate student at K-State with a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
  2. Be a sophomore, junior or senior.
  3. Show evidence of outstanding knowledge of discipline — publications, presentations, letters of support, internships, service learning, exhibits, acceptance to preprofessional, graduate, or professional schools, etc.
  4. Have been actively engaged in research within the past 12 months prior to the semester of the award.  
  5. Be enrolled during the academic year in which the award is given.
  6. Have a letter of support from his or her faculty research project supervisor.
