Submitted by Steve Watson

Jim Richardson

Jim Richardson, native Kansan and noted photographer for National Geographic magazine, will speak on "Journeys of the Soil" at 4 p.m. Dec. 11 in 1018 Throckmorton Hall. Richardson is a photographer of global issues and landscapes, recognized for his explorations of life in remote places. His first story for National Geographic magazine was published in 1985.

Richardson's presentation, which is part of the Agronomy Seminar series, will be a photographic journey through the wonders of soils around the world, from the Andes of Peru to the rice fields of Bangladesh, the farms of Sub-Saharan Africa and the rich soils of Kansas. His work examines the complex world below the surface of the ground, and the critical relationship between people and prosperity that revolves around the health of their soil.

This seminar is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available before the seminar, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
