English Language Program receives full 10-year accreditation, Reppert named director

Ketty Reppert

Kansas State University's English Language Program, or ELP, recently earned a 10-year re-accreditation from the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation, or CEA. In addition, Ketty Reppert has been named director of the program, effective immediately.

This is the longest period of accreditation available through CEA, the specialized accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education to accredit English language programs and institutions.

"The ELP was initially accredited by CEA in 2008 and is now accredited through August 2034," Reppert said. "The accreditation process was a full group effort involving ELP faculty and staff and colleagues across the university. "We benefit from taking the time for a deep review of our policies and practices and getting feedback from peers in the field."

In order to be accredited by CEA, language programs conduct a rigorous self-study, detailing how their program meets each of the 44 standards. The standards cover all aspects of the program from curriculum, instruction and assessment to administration, finances and student services. After reviewing the self-study report, the agency conducts a two-day site visit.

Reppert has been interim director of English Language Program since 2022 and was associate director of academics of ELP from 2016-2022. Reppert started at K-State as an instructor for the program in 2006. She has experience teaching English in Guatemala and Pakistan.

"I cannot think of a more qualified individual to lead our English Language Program into the future," said Grant Chapman, associate provost for international programs. "Ketty Reppert has demonstrated excellent leadership and collegiality while serving as interim; she and the ELP just received a full specialty re-accreditation without any reservations."
